After realising her love of bodywork on a 4 week immersive massage course with her husband in Thailand, Sophie completed her Diploma of Remedial Massage in Hobart in 2015. She has since added specialised training in Pregnancy Massage, Myofascial Cupping, Oncology Massage and Therapeutic Hot Stone. Sophie is a vibrant and bubbly therapist, and her 10 years of clinical experience have left her confident in working with a wide range of clients. No matter who walks through the door, Sophie will provide you with a professional, tailored experience to release muscular tension patterns, improve range of movement and promote relaxation. Sophie believes the benefits of massage have a far reaching effect on overall health and wellbeing and it is an honour to provide this service to you!

Remedial Massage

A massage that is tailored to your unique body and aims to treat areas of tension, pain or injury to optimise day to day function. Sessions can be a generalised full body “tune up”, or target specific problem areas. Tools such as hot stones, myofascial cupping and jade gua sha may be incorporated at times to improve treatment outcomes (these can be avoided if preferred).

Relaxation Massage

A smooth, flowing style of massage that gently unwinds tension and creates a deep sense of relaxation in the body and the mind. You will walk away from this session feeling nurtured, balanced and calm.
*Relaxation massages can be full body or upper body only depending on preference.

Pregnancy Massage

Women go through many profound changes during pregnancy, and massage can be an excellent way to support the body and mind through this transition. Sophie has done specialised pregnancy massage training to ensure she can work safely with you and your growing baby and alleviate many of the inevitable niggles that will pop up during this time. A pregnancy pillow is offered during first and second trimesters to low risk clients to allow them to comfortably receive massage in a prone position (facedown). During the third trimester all massages are performed in side lying / semi reclined positions.

Myofascial Cupping

During a myofascial cupping session, regular remedial massage techniques are combined with the use of suction cups, strategically placed over points of fascial tension to reduce restrictive fascial adhesions, release myofascial trigger points, and improve range of motion. Cupping is often the “missing link” required to completely release an area due to the fact it lifts and separates soft tissue instead of pushing and compressing it like other massage techniques.
*In some people, cupping work can result in temporary bruise-like marks to the skin. Marks indicate that the therapy has successfully stimulated blood flow and relieved stagnation in the affected area. Colour usually completely fades within 2 - 10 days.

Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is a specialised form of massage therapy which is tailored to meet the unique needs and considerations of people undergoing cancer treatment or living with cancer. Gentle techniques are performed in slow succession to create a sense of calm and relaxation in the body and the mind, and encourage you into a state of homeostasis at a cellular level. Massage provided by a qualified Oncology Therapist has been found to have a positive impact on levels of stress, pain and nausea associated with cancer, and improve quality of sleep.
*Please advise Sophie before your treatment if you have any special requirements around aroma / heating for your session.

Therapeutic Hot Stone Massage

This session incorporates the use of warmed volcanic basalt stones into a remedial or relaxation massage. Stones are either glided across muscles in long relaxing strokes or strategically placed over tension points to allow heat to slowly penetrate and release muscles. Hot stone massage is a gentle yet highly effective release tool, and usually results in a blissful floaty feeling.

Seabreeze Signature Massage
